Malpractice Insurance for USCE

This is a list of agencies and companies that you might wanna shop around for buying Malpractice Insurance Coverage (Also called Professional Liability Insurance) - if the hospital / residency program needs you to have it.

Thanks to a reader for the first four submissions - he chose to be anonymous, though I would have loved to credit the kind man..

Here goes:

1. Medical Protection Society ( "A student mentioned this to me but I have not looked at their policy" - says the reader)

This is a UK Company - about USA, it says: "There are some notable countries where we do not offer permanent membership – particularly the USA and Canada. However, even there MPS membership offers access to medicolegal assistance for students on their electives and for Good Samaritan Acts"

2. Chicago Insurance Company

3.
Evanston Insurance company/Lorenz Insurance Agency,
Maria Jimenez, underwriter, 847-572-6142
(I've talked to this gal and I understand the student paid over $1000 for the malpractice insurance for a year)

Some Tips:

1. Shop around - get quotes from all before deciding to go ahead

2. If affordable, bu it for a longer period of time, so that if you get more opportunities for USCE, it will cost you less than having to buy a new policy each time
