Orthopedic Surgery Observership at NYU |
|
The Observerships program in Orthopedics at New York University Medical Center (NYUMC) is also called the Visiting International Physician's Program and the rotations will occur within the NYU Hospital for Joint DiseasesLength: 1 Months to 6 Months
Fee: Not Specified - May be free, but living expenses are your own
Application:Click here for Information, Application Form and J-1 visa form.
Contact Phone: 212-263-6391
Visa: For IMGs needing a visa, if the J-1 is not compulsory for the observership, I would rather recommend a visitors visa to avoid any J1 issues such as the 2-year Home residence requirement (Which I don't think will apply here, but for caution)
Notes:
1. As the website says, "In order to participate in the VIP program, a physician must have a faculty sponsor." The word 'sponsor' here does not have anything to do with money - rather it means a physician faculty should agree to allow you to observe him or her.
2. Hmmm ...since Orthopedic Residencies are very tough for IMGs while IMGs have been getting Direct Orthopedic Fellowships without Residency - this observership might be a better investment for IMGs who are either current residents or completed orthopedic residencies from their Home countries.
