MSPE / Dean's Letter Submission Date to ERAS

This will probably be the shortest post on this blog - just a quick reminder that you do not need to sweat over making your Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) / Dean's letter to ERAS-ECFMG for scanning before applying - a situation that candidates still in medical school or recently completed medical school might encounter.
a
1. Whether your medical school provides you with a Dean's Letter or MSPE - both are accepted and will be called "MSPE" no matter what you submit. (The Term 'Deans Letter' is considered obsolete)
2.
The MSPE is made available to all residency programs participating in the match only on 1st November of the application year.
3. Hence, the last date for having your Dean's letter / MSPE to reach ERAS-ECFMG for scanning would be before the start of October of the application year. i.e. If you were applying for the 2010 residency Match and applying on September 2009 - it is OK have your MSPE / Dean's letter reach ERAS-ECFMG by 30th September 2009.

Hmmm...some programs might even wait until they get the MSPE before sending out interview invites for some candidates - i.e. November 1st.

Hi digital doc.I am applying for 2010 residency position.I have a question regarding MSPE.I am a repeat applicant and ECFMG already have my DEAN'S letter. So I need not resubmit the DEAN's letter as they will upload my old documents to the ERAS post office. Now, I read this on their website that ERAS is no longer accepting DEAN'S letter and they only take a MSPE.Now I cannot go back to my medical school to get my MSPE..Is it ok if I apply with my old DEAN'S letter or shud I compulsorily submit the MSPE??Please help..
