Mnemonic for Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
The acronym DKA gives us all !
Diagnosis:
D - Diabetes with Blood sugar more than225 mg %
K - Ketosis
A - Acidosis ( pH Less than 7.2), Anion Gap Increased
Main Clinical Signs / Symptoms:
D - Diuresis, Delirium / Dizziness, Dehydration
K - Kussmaul Breathing, Ketotic Breath
A - Abdominal Pain
DKA Precipitators (All S and S for Sugar Sugar Sugar !) :
S - Sepsis
S - Surgery
S - Sugar High due to Skipped Insulin
S - Stress
S - Substance Abuse (Alcohol , Dope)
