Preference of Candidates during Scramble
This is a preference that is generally said to be true with variations of course.
1. Contacts - Yeah, the all powerful 'contact' once again emerges big, like a phone call / email from a close friend of a program director, dean of a medical school (AMGs), or an important grant-fetcher faculty within the program, or an important external physician who refers a lot of physicians to a program, etc. ;-)
2. For unfilled preliminary/transitional positions, Candidates with a match in an advanced position but unmatched to a prelim/transitional position are usually given the first preference (And yea, you will find lotsa empty prelim positions during the scramble)
3. Next, we can put in Candidates who had interviewed at the program during the season but were unmatched
4. Then, Candidates who had already applied to the program
5. The others....green card/citizens and high scores preferred...
