List of Unfilled Positions in NRMP Residency Match

If time-travel were indeed possible, for some applicants it would be a most desirable fantasy to be able to travel back to those pre-1975 years when the number of residency positions actually exceeded the number of applicants...complete the training and then zoom back in to the present age to apply for board certification ;-)

I had a couple of emails from anxious IMGs already inquiring about the post-match scramble and that if they could procure a list of the previous match's unfilled residency programs. Why ?
Since the residency programs that go unfilled in a given match year are very likely (not a rule) to be the same ones that had unmatched positions the previous year, the idea is to have a list of previous years unfilled programs, sort out the ones that one is eligible for and keep their phone/fax details ready beforehand.

NRMP.org now publishes a list of matched and unmatched programs on it's website.

Practically speaking one might wonder if this information would really help...hmmm - like if for whatever reason one loses his / her Internet access precisely during the unfilled positions release hour - this information could be better than shooting arrows in the dark ;-)

Lol..but seriously if a program has been consistently unfilled over the years, you could perhaps have an accomplice start calling them by default when the clock strikes 12 pm EST, while you yourself concentrate on the newly released list of unfilled programs.
