Post-Match Scramle FAQs.

1. Do I need to be registered with ERAS / NRMP to participate in the Post-Match ?
Technically No - You don't need to be registered with either - The basic requirement that most program directors want to see is whether you are ECFMG certified are not ! (How else will they know whether your USMLE passing claims are right or not ?) And ofcourse other things will matter from program to program - like ur USCE, LORS, Scores, etc.
However, personally, I would say its good to be registered in ERAS at least, if you are not already - just in case some program director want to receive your application in through ERAS (Which increasingly seems to be the case) . So if you did not participate in the current match , but intend to take a pot-shot with the scramble, consider that !
2. When Will I know about the Unfilled Positions this year ?
12:00 noon, Eastern Time in the United States, on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. But you will be able to access this only if you have an AAMC login ID.
3. What if I am not NRMP Registered - how do I access the unfilled programs list ?
Well it's unethical, according to NRMP, to access the unmatched programs list if you were not in the match game in the first place ...[ some people get the PDF list emailed from friends who are registered with NRMP illegally :-)]. I tried searching for information on the NRMP site about the legality issues in this case or if any punitive actions are taken against people who participate in the scramble without applying or registering with ERAS or NRMP before hand - couldn't find any. If anyone does, kindly leave a comment.
4. I am done with Step 1 and Step 2 CK - I just gave my CS and am waiting for scores - will I be considered ?
Most program directorys would like to see all scores before they sign you for a residency through a scramble - some others may even want you to be ECFMG certified. So, generally speaking, chances are pretty low that you will be considered.
