Explaining Why You Like a Specialty
A critical part of your Personal statement for residency and even fellowship applications is explaining why you decided to choose or why do you like that particular specialty. I have already compiled some sample scripts from the Internet to help you deal with the same question on the Interviews.
And you can rope in ideas from the same scripts while framing your personal statements too.
The reason why you like a specialty must be compelling enough by itself rather than relying on and stressing on what you don't like about other specialties. Like some candidates applying for Pathology stress on how they don't like the clinical side - sure mention that, but don't imply that to be your biggest reason ! Rather a love for investigating tissues, basic sciences, structure and technology is what a pathology applicant should indicate...
