180 Program Responses and Counting...

Feeling lost is never a good feeling. The first day of my residency this July, though I looked confident with a tie, stheth and a sparkling white coat, I was so lost in the huge hospital complex, that I ended up asking an outpatient for directions...LOL. Felt stupid as I wondered what one would think about a hospital where doctors ask patients for directions ! But then I aslo had a "House.MD-moment" guessing that the patient must have multiple chronic diseases, since he knew the hospital so well ;-) ...ok now that was kiddish

Enough of me, this post is to express gratitude to readers who have contributing to the 2009 Residency Programs Response Database rather regularly and diligently - which was launched only about a week ago and have 180 entries already ! Do note that for the 2009 database, i did add two more fields - Years since graduation and any previous post-graduate tranining, which were not present on the 2008 Responses database.
2009 Residency Programs Responses Database

Not only should the 2009 match applications find this useful, but also the 2010 applicants would have an idea about what kind of application profiles are specific programs looking for...and feel less lost !

Thanks again to submittors and good luck to you all !

And looks like we already have one Interview experience for Family Medicine (Univ. of Buffalo) for this match season contributed on the Residency Interview Experiences Database

Thanks again to submittors and good luck to you all !

Excellent work no doubts, just a teeny weeny request, can you add a slide bar to scroll sideways at the top as well, like the one you have at the bottom, in the "2009 Residency Programs Response Database"

Yes pleaase... it's difficult to go through the thing this way coz you have to go all the way down to look at the right side of the page.. and then all the way up to find what you were looking for.. and eventually finding that you can't.. coz now you can't see the left side of the page where the program name was.. and then go all the way down to.....

I tried to change the scroll bar to a top one - but looks like the HTML element (iFRAME) does not have an attribute to change where the scroll bar appears - it pretty much seems to be at the mercy of the type of internet browser u use. Also with Internet Explorer, the database contracts so that you may not have to use a horizontal scrollbar

sorry for that - but if you find a solution, let me know here

I have applied for 2009 match. Have already got some interview calls. I have scheduled some interviews after Thanks giving day and some after christmas and New year. Can u advise me in this case shall i be mailing the programs, cards wishing them thanks giving day and new year, even before i have been interviewed there. If yes, then shall i be mailing cards to all of them who will be interviewing me or just to the program director. Awaiting your response........

To Balder - if you an IMG, yes it surely late, but you could still apply to places that are still willing to accept new applications, so call/email before you apply anywhere to save yourself $$$
