Watch "Sicko" To Get a Glimpse of US Healthcare Issues
The current managed care health insurance model in the United States is broken and an increasing amount of citizens are wishing for Universal health care. I have already covered Universal health insurance & Socialized Medicine on this blog, a question often asked on Residency Interviews.

American medicine has its great points - the technology, the education, the research and the latest stuff going on - but the payment and insurance mechanisms are falling apart, bankrupting people with no health insurance coverage - which is employer provided rather than government - like it is in Canada or United Kingdom.
Many of you may have already watched it - if not, you can hope to get a used DVD here on Amazon or watch it free online while its still up there ;-)

i saw this movie few months back n the US medical care looked pathetic.. at least in terms of patient care... n that no matter u be in US, u can not afford medical bills.. kinda sad...
Yes..me too agree the pathetic conditions in USA....but the movie was a real eye-opener!Really frustrated me as to why am i struggling to get into this mess!
Well, like most of Michael Moore's movies, one can expect that he has taken quite a few liberties to be sensational at the expense of accurate.
No doubt that the UK's NHS, France and Canada have great intentions, but nowhere does he shed light on what colossal losses the NHS makes every year!
It's a good movie but there's no reason to be frustrated... Moore tends to be biased so don't believe 100% of what's being said.
