INTERVIEW TIP # 11: STUDYING THE INTERVIEWERS
As the great psychologist William James puts it "The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated"
I can see how - If I were to interview a candidate, one of the things to surely impress me would be the candidate being aware of what my research interests were and me actually being able to engage in an intelligent conversation over the same :-)
Now, most residency programs will give you an "itinerary" or a timetable/schedule of ho
w your interview will proceed and who exatly will be interviewing you. In case, it is not provided, nothing wrong is requesting the program coordinator for the same.
It is in your best interests to go to the program website and gather information about the research and teaching interests of that specific faculty.
Besides the residency program website, a second way of knowing more about the physician faculty to check out his/her publications by typing the full name on www.Pubmed.com or simply a Google search !
SO a professor interested in diabetic drugs could possibly wanna ask you something related to diabetes - or YOU could bring it up during the course of the interview. "I happened to read that paper you published on Biguanides..."
