I know that everybody does not have the leadership qualities. If you are a bit shy, simple, reserved but intelligent ,hard working, sincere and good at teamwork would it effect your chances of getting in to residency. If so how should you present your self.should you fake you have the leadership qualities?I dont think thats such a good idea. Please somebody help me how to present my shortcoming in a positive way. Thanks in advance.

There will be chaos if everyone wants to be a leader - a strengh within the 'shy, simple, intelligent' persona is an excellent camaderie with fellow residents, which, as you correctly mention, makes you a fantastic teamplayer and an excellent friend to other residents and 'leaders'in the team. A leader cannot work alone - needs intelligent team-players like you :-) - Residents will be with you for 3-6 years - the patient bonds are for life ...and be assured, ur persona will be loved by your patients !

Thanks a lot for your blog. Its so helpful.I had a question, After my interview, should I email the PD or should I write/type a letter and send it by regular mail. Thanks once again

Emailing should be fine - but yes, some people do send regular mail. I guess it is a matter of choice. I do know a resident who sent thankyou letters to all via post - in his opinion, a thank you postal letter "added to the personal touch".

hi! thank you so much for the information you have posted here! you have been a great help to all of us! i just wanna ask what should you say when an interviewer asks you how many interviews you have. is it to your advantage if you tell them you have lots of interviews? or will they take that against you? thanks so much for the help!

Hi, thats a good point. Some people advise that its not advanageous to mention too many and limit it to say 5-6 , coz it may indicate a lack of being specific on ur choices. I would go with that...
