INTERVIEW TIP # 1 : STUDY THE PROGRAM

Before you go for that confrontation, it is a good idea to read about the research interests and areas of work of each of the faculty members on the residency program candidate selection committee - usually this information can be easlily access through the program website.
For e.g., as a student mentioned on one of the forums, a PD at an interview he gave, had research interests in ethics. He was asked him how he would react in a ethics-challenging scenario that was presented to him.

Hi, Digitaldoc MD! I need your advice. I am going to have an interview. PD is a professor and an author of book. I am very interested in this program and I would like to increase my chance to be matched. I have an idea and want to share with you. I would like to buy this book and read it. What if I ask him to put his signature in his book at the end of the interview? What do you think about it? Please, reply. Thank you.

Certainly Enterprising ! why not ? a neat idea and besides, Author-signed books are a great collectible :-) It will be absurd for me to say this alone will improve your chances at that program - competence and personality always come first...but this will certainly keep you in the PDs mind for a long time :-)
