The IMG Digest: List of Chinese Medical Universities allowed to accept Foreign Students

Since the year 2004, there has been a rising

flood of foreign students seeking medical school admissions in China for the MBBS Degree (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery). Indian students seem to be making a bulk of these. A a couple of inquiring emails to me from students who had USMLE intentions after completing MBBS in China, made me lookup the scenario.

Not all Medical schools in China are permitted by the Chinese Government to accept Medical students - in 2007, only about 30 were granted permission to do so. Here's a list of medical colleges / Universities in China permitted by the Chinese Government :

1. China Medical University

2. Chongqing Medical University

3. Capital Medical University

4. Dalian Medical University

5. Guangxi Medical University

6. Harbin Medical University

7. Huazhong University of S & T

8. Jilin University - 100 seats

9. Nanjing Medical University

10. Qingdao University

11. Southeast University

12. Suzhou University

13. Shandong University

14. Southern Medical University

15. Sichuan University

16. Tianjin Medical University

17. Wenzhou Medical College

18. Wuhan University

19. Xi’an Jiaotong University

20. Xinjiang Medical University

21. Zhejiang University

22. Zhengzhou University

23. Zhongnan University

24. Zhongshan University

Six others have been permitted but not allowed to take students for 2007 for so-called technical reasons, but should expect to open up in 2008.

These are:

1. Fudan University
2. Hebei Medical University
3. Peking University
4. Shanghai Jiaotong University
5. Tsinghua University School of Medicine
6. Tongji University
